Architecture: Marist Annex is a small-scale symmetrical vernacular/Colonial Revival brick structure on the northern edge of campus. Its residential format is in contrast to the much more monumental, adjacent Marist Hall. The raised classical entry is a dominant nfeature of a three-bay central element. Slightly projecting end bays, or pavilions, plus the entry, give the building its character.

History: Marist Annex was built in 1932 for Marist College, once a separate entity from CUA. Since university acquisition, both Marist Hall and Marist Annex have university functions. Late-20th-century renovation was for office function.

Significance: The building’s historic role as a part of the former Marist College, continued academic use, and vernacular/Colonial Revival architecture have a neutral impact on the campus.

Condition: A limited renovation of the interior generated usable space. Exterior windows and building trim were painted in 1996. Utility system improvements are planned in conjunction with Marist Hall renovation project, pending funding.
