Setting: Foundation planting and lawn at the intersection of two interior campus streets, attached to the Nursing-Biology Building to the east.
Architecture: McCort-Ward Hall is a mid-1960s simple modern building devoid of ornament. The facade is articulated with vertical pilasters defining window and spandrel panels. The main entrance is a glass link to the attached Nursing-Biology Building to the east.
History: The McCort-Ward Building was built in 1961 as were Pangborn Hall and Gowan Hall. The Nursing- Biology Building was built in 1966. Together, the four structures form a complex of buildings constructed in the same style and of similar materials.
Significance: McCort-Ward Hall is a purpose-built academic building that forms part of a matching grouping on the eastern edge of the campus. It does not contribute to the architectural or historical qualities of the campus.
Condition: The hall is in need of upgraded air-conditioning and electrical systems. A new roof was installed in 1995. With some interior remodeling, especially in the instructional areas, the building can continue to support research and teaching activities.
